Landcare: Free Health Check Program

Hello all

Our Landcare Group has been given an opportunity to run a Sustainable Farming Families program at the Mudgegonga Hall the first two sessions will be held Wednesday 15th & Thursday 16th of August at the Mudgegonga Hall between 9 am and 4.30 however late arrivals or early departures can be accommodated.

The attachment explains the program and Alison Hescock, from Alpine Health runs it, she has suggested we try and get 18 participants as that may ensure we have at least 15 turn up. Alison encourages couples to attend.

The workshops includes health checks (eg. blood pressure, cholesterol, blood oxygen level, PIKO lung or breathing test etc) as well as health information re: rural health, diabetes, farm hlth & safety, nutrition, mental health and stress related illness the list goes on. The first session involves 2 days and the next two sessions one day each over a twelve month period.

The local Alpine Valleys Vignerons who were successful in getting the program last year have given some very positive reports about the program, there was an article in the local paper a few weeks back.

We hope our local members take advantage of this opportunity all free of cost.

Please either book with Cindy on 57534539, Paul 57534557 or Alison Hescock on 0458 228 013.

Hope to see you there.

Community Info: ABC open ‘Now and Then’ images of Mudgegonga

Hi to all

Suzi Taylor from ABC Open Albury-Wodonga has been running film and photography workshops with some interested locals capturing `Now & Then´ images in Mudgegonga. A selection of the photos and a post by Suzi can be viewed at the links below.

The photos are really clever and well worth having a look at – some are after the fires and now – some are a look back in history compared to now. Well done to all the crew involved – you definitely have more patience than me!

Community Info: Be Gentle with Yourself

BE GENTLE WITH YOURSELF for full story please see attached.

Three years on from the 2009 bushfires and its aftermath some people are saying that it is finished business and that people should move on.

For some this may be true, but for others, it wont be.

Getting some help to make sense of what is happening is the first step to becoming available to our partners and families again, to move from being angry to a better place, and to start liking ourselves a bit more. When to take the first step is up to you itll be the right time whenever you are ready.

Getting help can start with a phone call. To make it easier, someone can then come to see you. There are skilled and experienced people at hand to assist.

For assistance, call EACH Social and Community Health on (03) 9871 1800 to arrange a time and place that suits you.
Alternatively, call the Bushfire Community Support Helpline on 1800 050 400.

Please take a moment to forward this on to your family, friends, and neighbours. You might be very surprised to find that even some of those closest to you are hurting much more than you would ever realise. Maybe they will receive this more than once but Im sure we all agree that is better than not at all.

Please see attached files for full details.

Promo Blurb
Community Wellbeing Comedy Event: Taking comedy across Victoria to regional, rural & outer urban communities.

If you chuckled watching Rod perform risqué rural Aussie humour on TV you are going to enjoy approx 50minutes of non-stop good belly laughter. After a break Rod will return to stage where he will share insight with you regarding his farm, family and fame – highlighting his passion for raising awareness about autism and mental health. There will be plenty of time for questions, answers and photo mementos.

Landscape of Compassion Inc have offered communities across Victoria opportunity to hold a community wellbeing comedy event for their local and surrounding people to help lift their spirits while overcoming adversity following natural disasters.

Don’t miss your chance to have a laugh with ‘The Old Fella’, comedian Rod Gregory as seen on TV for over 18 years.
