Community Info: FIREFOXES women’s Leadership retreat – Spread the word!

Hello to those in the Firefoxes network as well as the agencies/individuals supporting fire affected communities!

The FIREFOXES team are continually inspired by the incredible achievements of women leading recovery and community building efforts following the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires. Some of you are feeling tired after nearly two and a half years of giving. A number of you wished there were people who ‘get it’ to share ideas with and support you through this challenging time. Others want to share their valuable knowledge and need a forum in which to do it.

We are now calling for participants for the inaugural FIREFOXES Women’s Leadership Retreat to be held in the Yarra Valley (July 22-24). We ‘re wanting to reach the women who are actively taking up leadership – both formally and informally. This includes women who have part time or full time leadership roles as well as those of you who have reached out and led something simple, with the intent of supporting and assisting others. A lot of women doing these things don’t necessarily see themselves as leaders. We do!

The retreat is being run by a professional facilitator and supported by a range of amazing women. Each day offers a compulsory set program with a range of activities, workshops, opportunities for self care as well as down time. When you sign up for the retreat, you make a commitment to challenge and be challenged, to support, engage, affirm, relax, learn and talk. You must be prepared to share your leadership experiences and ideas for implementing change, be willing to laugh and open to leaving with more energy than you came with!

There are only 50 places for fire affected women from across Victoria. Please read the attached file for answers to all of your questions. If you are interested in being considered for a place, fill out our simple, one-page application form ASAP! An independent panel comprising of program facilitators and evaluators will decide upon successful applicants.

Please forward this information on to any other women in your community who might be interested in being part of this fabulous weekend.
