‘A Comforting Cup of Tea’ Visiting the North East
14 Jun 2009
Sunday 14 June, 12:00 - 3:00, Mudgegonga Hall
Sallyanne Craig from Melbourne will be visiting the fire affected areas of North East Victoria on Sunday 14 June and bringing beautiful teacups and saucers with her. These teacups have been gifted to our bushfire survivors to assist them on their journey of recovery.
Like many others, Sallyanne was deeply affected by the devastation and loss that our communities suffered in the Black Saturday fires. She has combined her skills and networking talents and has been collecting and distributing teacups throughout the fire affected regions.
People that have donated these special teacups have been assured that they well be taken care of on their journey, and that they look so very beautiful nestled in pale blue tissue in their purpose-cut, Australian-made gift boxes.
As a country we can be proud of how quickly and generously we have responded to the relief efforts. Though the recent turn in the weather may have abated the immediate risk and fear of further fires, it has turned cold and there is much work to do. In no way will it have diminished the ongoing need for people to know they are remembered in their loss.
Sallyanne will be at the Mudgegonga Hall from 12 noon to 3pm on Sunday 14 June. Refreshments will available, we want to continue to encourage people directly impacted by the bushfires to come along and enjoy a cuppa and the friendship of others. The beautiful teacups will go home with our bushfire survivors and be treasured as they bring comfort and hope of better times ahead. For those who can’t attend the Day, arrangements will made for them to receive their cups.
