Grants for Primary Producers and Small Businesses

Eligibility

An eligible primary producer is one who is registered with the Australian Tax Office and:

  • has a right or interest in land for the purpose of primary production
  • contributes a significant part of his/her labour and capital to the farming enterprise, and
  • derives more than 51% of his/her individual income from the farming enterprise.

Lifestyle or hobby farmers are not eligible for this assistance.

To be eligible a small business must:

  • have an ABN
  • employ less than 20 full time (or equivalent) employees 
  • have suffered direct damage to premises and/or tools of trade (e.g. equipment, plant)
  • have an owner/operator who derives at least 51% of his/her income from the business
  • have been operating or developing a business in the affected area up to and including the date of the fire
  • intend to re-establish in the same area.

 

$5,000 Clean-up and Restoration Grant

This is available for immediate clean-up and/or stock welfare.  Reciepts for costs are not required in advance.

$20,000 Clean-up and Restoration Grant

This is available following a more detailed assessment which is subject to a separate application.

Bushfire assistance loan

Loans of up to $200,000 are available at a concessional interest rate of 3.2% for the first 5 years.
